a unique way of combining the ancient arts of Five Element acupuncture, dowsing and healing to elegantly transform your physical health and emotional wellbeing.

Harnessing Energy To Restore, Repair and Replenish

Welcome to my unique style of offering a simple, elegant yet highly effective way of improving physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health for everyone. My style of practice is very different, I utilise a range of ancient medical methodologies to be able to work with every patient on an individual basis, either face to face or remotely, to be able to accurately diagnose the root cause of their dis-ease in accordance with Chinese medical principles and provide a bespoke healing programme to assist health transformation.

Conditions and Benefits

I work with every health issue as this is how the body demonstrates that there is a fault or misalignment within the system. I support the recovery of a wide range of conditions including autoimmune and blood disorders, cancer and cancer treatment induced pathologies, heart and kidney conditions, musculoskeletal, menopause and hormone imbalances, headaches and migraines, chronic fatigue/long covid, digestion complaints and fertility work.

Is This Available On The NHS?
The National Institute For Health Care Excellence (NICE) recommends acupuncture as a treatment option for chronic pain and chronic tension-type headaches, migraines, prostatitis symptoms, chronic neck pain, fibromyalgia, myofascial pain and chronic pelvis pain.
Sadly despite this being recommended, it is only ‘sometimes’ available on the NHS – but this is something that we can challenge together by complaining and campaigning for individual choice and access rights as per NICE guidelines.

Evidence of the effect of acupuncture?
In the last 10 years there has been some significant research studies undertaken which evidence the efficacy of acupuncture, in particular for chronic pain conditions. Based on this evidence, in 2017, the National Institute for Health and Research issued a summary of recently published research that evidences acupuncture was effective for some chronic pain and was not a placebo. However, for many conditions there are simply not enough good quality clinical trials for researchers to draw firm conclusions.

Research fact sheets have been produced by The British Acupuncture Council in order to provide accurate and unbiased information for a variety of conditions.  They provide summaries of research and how acupuncture may be beneficial.

What Is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a system of healing in Chinese medicine that has been practiced for over 3,000 years.  According to traditional Chinese medicine, good health is dependent on Qi or vital energy moving through the body along lines called channels.  An indication that Qi is out of balance or blocked is shown by symptoms of pain, illness or other physical and emotional signs. Acupuncture is a holistic therapy that focuses on the whole person, aiming to stimulate the body’s own ability to heal and therefore restore balance physically and emotionally.

Acupuncture involves inserting fine needles into the skin at specific points on the channels.  We use needles to connect with the body’s Qi, to direct the flow of energy, which triggers the body’s own healing response.

Needles and No Needle Techniques
I practice two forms of acupuncture the needles and the no needles approach. You get to choose if you prefer traditional (needles) or receive my no needle approach. Both are equally as effective.
I use exceptionally fine needles; most people feel no pain or very little pain when they are inserted. You may experience a strange sensation or tingling, which indicates the needle is connecting to the Qi within the chosen point. It is a very relaxing experience, and most people feel very energised after their treatments. Needles may be inserted and removed immediately or left in for a pain for the body to undertake the treatment.

How often should I attend?
In my experience the body needs to get used to this new way of repairing, resorting and healing itself so I expect my customers to commit to having four weekly sessions when embarking on their healing journey, otherwise it is not a good use of their money. Once the issue has been addressed many patients stay on for ‘top up’ treatments to ensure their body remains healthy, see it as a form of proactive health care, as a prevention mechanism – very unusual in the Western world!

For more information watch this video below provided by the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC):

What is moxa?
Moxa is a herb (mugwort) that is an essential part of Chinese medicine which is used to warm and nourish the body, acupuncture points, energising Qi and Blood. I use it frequently within my clinic. The moxa is placed either directly onto the skin or on the end of needles during treatment. The moxa is then lit and allowed to slowly smoulder, enabling a therapeutic heat to permeate into the body and improve the flow of Qi and Blood in the area being treated. The patient feels a wonderfully relaxing, warm sensation, it is a very soothing part of my treatments.

What is Five Element (5EA) Acupuncture?

Five Element Acupuncture (5EA), also referred to as Wu Xing or the Five Phases has been part of traditional Chinese medicine for centuries. This theory teaches us that there are five energy styles of human nature, these influence who are and how we experience life. We have all five elements within us, but one element will be our dominant energy type which determines our natural physical and our emotional wellbeing throughout our life.

Acupuncturists who are trained in 5EA use this system to diagnose what may be happening in terms of imbalances or ill health and treat the person on a holistic level in accordance with their elemental energies. It is an effective and unique system of medicine that diagnoses and treats the causes of disease. 5EA treats the root cause of the issue, which often will mean that other symptoms which may not seem connected will also resolve, enabling a holistic return to balance and health for patients.

What is dowsing/radiesthesia?

Dowsing or radiesthesia is an ancient art of being able to read and detect energy that has been used for thousands of years. There is evidence which dates dowsing back to ancient Chinese and Egyptian times. Dowsing is used in a vast range of ways, to detect water, electricity, oil, missing objects, people or animals. There is also an ancient traditional history of the exceptional usage of using dowsing for medical diagnostic and treatment. There are a number of different dowsing tools that are used including metal rods, wooden rods or sticks and pendulums.

I have been an avid dowser for over 5 years, and it is integral to my diagnosis and treatment of every patient. I use dowsing to detect and clear block channels and energy pathways, to balance and realign the body’s energy flow, medical and muscular diagnosis, treatment of pain, swelling, blockages, lumps, cysts and growths. I also use it to diagnose dietary intolerances, deficiencies and homeopathic remedies.

Anyone can learn the art of dowsing and I often encourage patients to find out more about its usage and provide demonstrations on how they can treat themselves at home through the basics of dowsing.

Distance Acupuncture Healing

Distance healing through the use of energy is an ancient practice and remains an exceptionally popular way of being able to ensure accessible healing for people when they need it most. There are a range of well-known distance healing practices including acupuncture, faith healing, Reiki, EFT tapping, somatic and vibrational medicine.

Acupuncture is a medical intervention that uses the energy of the body to help restore balance, the smooth flow of the lifeforce (Qi), clear any blockages, heal and repair. As medical practitioners we typically use needles to instruct and command the energy to undertake these tasks. However, as physics demonstrates, energy can also be directed and instructed through alternative methods such as acupressure, the use of crystals, and through the energetic power of thoughts and intentions. This allows the effective use of combining the ancient art of acupuncture with the ancient art of distal healing as we are simply harnessing the use of energy. Distance does not dilute or lessen the power of the energy transfer. A good way of thinking about this is to think of the sun, it is a mere 93 million miles away, but it can still burn our skin badly if we sit out in its energy pathway for too long – the distance does not lessen it’s impact and the same principle is applied to distance healing – just as effective!

How Do I Combine Acupuncture, Dowsing and Distance Healing?
There are many benefits of choosing to receive your treatment via distance healing including convenience, accessibility, and there is no need to travel which is especially wonderful for those who are in pain, house or hospital bound.
I always start my distal healing with an online (WhatsApp, Zoom, Facetime etc) consultation meeting where we introduce ourselves, discuss symptoms and chat through how this medical intervention works. It helps people to understand it on a deeper level, ask any questions they may have and get to know how I work. During this consultation I will offer the following services:

  • Chinese medical diagnosis of symptoms and health problems presented
  • Review dietary intolerances, deficiencies and offer recommendations. Please note I am not a dietician, so I am only able to offer guidance
  • Conduct a homeopathic requirements assessment (if needed)
  • Assess the channel pathology and body rebalancing treatment programme
  • Discuss ways of working with you to help rebalance your emotional and spiritual alignment – to help reduce emotional stress.

All distance healing are conducted in a full medical clinic setting and are received by the customer at a time that is most suitable for their body to receive. Like face to face acupuncture, I recommend that people undertake a series of four weekly sessions to allow me the chance to clear down blockages, open the flow of channel pathways and allow the body to get used to this new energetic way of healing itself.

Acupuncture Safety

Acupuncture performed by a qualified practitioner is generally very safe.  Some individuals may experience mild, short term side effects such as: slight pain on insertion of the needles, bleeding or bruising where the needle punctures the skin.

The BAcC has a membership of approximately 3,000 members all who are professionally qualified, and it is the largest professional self-regulated body for the practice of traditional acupuncture.  The BAcC is committed to ensuring all patients receive the highest standard of professional care. It has its own Professional Code of Conduct and Code of Safe Practice. All members are bound by these.

In 2001 the British Medical Journal published an article on the study of acupuncture safety, surveying 34,000 treatments and found that no serious adverse events were reported.  95% confidence with an underlying serious adverse event rate of 0 and 1.1 per 10,000 treatments.

I cannot thank Claire enough for her support, care and expertise.I had been suffering with a foot injury which had been causing me pain for 18 months. The physical pain led to emotional distress, which in turn was hindering any recovery.Claire's holistic approach helped me to cope emotionally, which turned a negative spiral into a positive trajectory.Throughout this process, Claire demonstrated great knowledge, empathy, positivity and provided treatment very much tailored to my needs. Claire always kept me fully informed on the treatment process. For those unfamiliar with 5 elements acupuncture, there is nothing scary about it. An initial contact with Claire, will I'm sure be informative and reassuring.I strongly recommend Claire at The Avenue Acupuncture clinic.🙂👍

Started acupuncture a few months ago with Claire. Was a bit unsure of it as if didn’t know what to expect. From the minute I arrived she was so amazing completely out my mind at ease and talked me through everything. The difference from the treatment is unreal. I’m sleeping better at night with no nightmares, feel a whole lot less anxious and stressed. Claire is amazing and I honestly can’t encourage anyone enough to book in to see the difference it can make.

I was throughly impressed with the Avenue Clinic and Claire as a practitioner. The clinic is beautiful and a great space for healing treatments. Claire herself made me feel so welcome and was highly professional. She was caring and listened. This is one of the rare times I have felt I can talk about how I feel and it felt like a safe place to do so. She was gentle and kind and explained the treatment as she went through. I feel I have really benefited and will be definitely coming back! I can't recommend highly enough. *****
